You will find I am passionate about what I do and in finding ways to connect with the oh-so-many different types of students that participate in distance learning. It has been written that in a distance learning course, there really aren't instructors (teachers) and students. There are really only learners and facilitators of learning. I will be one of the facilitators of your learning in this environment. Your classmates will be facilitating your learning every day as you will be doing the same for them. I guarantee you that every step of the way, I will be learning as much as you.
I thought I would share a little about myself so that you could get a feeling of the person with whom you will be traveling.
I come to Yavapai College an experienced corporate educator and developer of web based, computer based, online, distance education, and direct-instruction curriculum. My eclectic business background includes corporate, government, as well as small business experience. I incorporate my real-world experience to provide practical applications of the skills you are learning.
I am the textbook example of the returning adult student. I took my first college course in 1974, (!)and periodically took classes over the years until finally buckling down to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Management while working full time at Motorola and taking care of my family, my father, and our home. I graduated from National-Louis University in Chicago, Illinois in 2002. I went on to complete a Master's Degree in Education specializing in Adult Education and Distance Learning in July 2005.
I look forward to seeing you in my classes, exploring ideas with such a wonderful communication tool. You are the groundbreakers!
Congratulations and good luck to you all!
